Mr John Askew's steel-framed grain store at Marshland Farm,
Moyses Bank, Marshland St James, near Wisbech in the Fenlands, is a
substantial extension to an existing building.
The store is 24.384 metres long, 12.192 metres wide, and 5.5
metres to the eaves. The eaves beam is cold-rolled Ultrazed, and
where the store abuts the existing building the gutter system used
is the galvanised Shufflebottom design. The steelwork is shotblast
to B.S. SA 2.5, with a hot-dipped galvanised finish. Roof cladding
is natural grey P6R fibre cement with closed ridges and
fibre-cement eaves closures.
The building has a manually operated roller shutter door, 5.5
metres by 5.5 metres, and a personnel door. Pre-stressed concrete
panels 3 metres high and 145mm thick are fitted on the three new
faces of the building.
