Famous driver's food mission
Water buffalo cheese made on Jody Scheckter's Laverstoke Park Farm, at Overton
near Basingstoke in Hampshire, featured on the BBC1 Sunday evening
programme 'Countryfile' in November 2011, when chef Aldo Zilli
demonstrated how to make tasty dishes with water buffalo produce.
Laverstoke Park has more than 1,500 water buffalo on its 2,500
acres, alongside other more traditional farm animals.
Shufflebottom is one of the suppliers to Laverstoke Park, having
provided a multi-span livestock building, cattle food storage and
more.
Jody Scheckter is a former Former One racing driver and won the
world champtionship in 1979. In recent years he has concentrated on
organic and biodynamic farming, building soil fertility and
rejecting fertilisers, herbicides and pesticides that are
manufactured by the petro-chemical and chemicals industries. The
farm has a shop and online service selling its own products. Wild
boar, organic ale, and milk chocolate, fudge and ice cream made
with buffalo milk, are among the more unusual of the extensive
range of food products.
Laverstoke Park has a cookery school, and there is a also a shop
in Twickenham, near London.
