Grain Dryer Building

A grain dryer building at Litlington, Polegate in East Sussex, adjoins an existing building in a farm complex. The dryer building is 18.288m long, 9.144m wide and is 3.915m high to the eaves. The steelwork is galvanised, and the building incorporates the Shufflebottom galvanised eaves beam gutter system.

The details

Side cladding is Shufflebottom 1000/33 plastic-coated forward box profile with Ultrazed side rails, and the roof is P6R fibre cement, without roof lights. One gable end and one side elevation have concrete panels 3m high and 145mm thick, and at the other gable end, the concrete panelling is 1m high. 

The building is designed to have a 3-phase operated roller shutter door 6m wide and 3.6m high, and a also personnel door.

Much of Litlington village, which contains 22 listed buildings, is a designated conservation area in attractive scenery above the Cuckmere river.
