And the Winner is…
Even though we have Ellie the Elephant as our Shufflebottom logo, we’re not usually very comfortable with blowing our own trumpet. But we can’t say we’re not pleased about our latest good news.
Last Friday, 11th October, Alex Shufflebottom, one of our three directors here at Shufflebottom, won an award at the Women in Business Awards 2019. Now in its 10th year, this prestigious event celebrates the best business women in the Swansea Bay City Region. Hosted by one of UK’s premier broadcasters, Frances Donovan, and with US business woman and TV personality, Caprice Bourret as the motivational guest speaker, Alex was recognised as the winner in the Growth and Expansion category.
Alex was humbled by this recognition and wishes to congratulate the other two women shortlisted in this category – Victoria Hartson of Hartson Fire, and Catherine Butler of Hugh Phillips Gower Butcher/Deli Cymraeg who are all winners as far as she is concerned and evidence of the pool of talent and inspiration that exists in the region.
Alex is proud to accept the award on behalf of all the directors at Shufflebottom and the many women employed in a variety of roles and levels at Shufflebottom, a company that is committed to nurturing women’s talent and equality of opportunity.
For Alex the award is a symbol of Shufflebottom’s growth and expansion as a company over the last three decades. From a small family-run business it is now a large scale enterprise with a turnover of £20 million +, 85 staff, 30 sub-contractors, additional sales offices in the east of England, and a prestigious and growing portfolio of structural steel manufacturing projects across the UK.
“I am so pleased to win the award in the Growth and Expansion category. It represents the story of the whole team here at Shufflebottom and the part everyone has played in getting the company to where it is positioned today and where it is going next.”
