Made In Carmarthenshire!

With perfect timing, just ahead of the Christmas rush, Carmarthenshire’s newest Home Bargains store opened its doors to excited customers on Saturday, 7th December.

Home Bargains is one of the UK’s largest and best-loved family-run retailers selling everything from homeware and health, sweets and snacks to fresh and frozen food. It’s known for providing top branded goods at exceptionally low prices and this is why it’s bucking industry trends in the retail sector, opening over 50 stores a year across the UK. It already has 500 stores in total, and this latest store on the site of the former Co-op Store in Cross Hands is Carmarthenshire’s third.

The store is a symbol of intent: planning to create 40 new jobs, it is a £7million investment with a floor space of 38,730sq.ft. Shufflebottom is delighted to have been part of this transformation and play a role in community generation. We are also proud to have been commissioned by Carmarthenshire’s home-grown Jones Brothers (Henllan) Ltd, one of the leading Civil Engineering and Construction Companies in south Wales, known for its strength in a range of sectors, including commercial and retail.

It was Shufflebottom’s inner strength Jones Brothers looked to for a project of this importance and we are pleased to say that we were responsible for the refurbishment of the building, delivering extensive strengthening and modification of the existing structure that included additional bracing to the roof. In total, we supplied over 90 tonne of new steel to all elevations of the building in order it could accept upgraded claddings.

As a family-run business ourselves it is particularly satisfying to support a major UK family-run player in the retail market and work alongside our near neighbours, Jones Brothers (Henllan) Ltd., to bring this new and much-wanted community asset into being.

“We’re thrilled to launch our third store in Carmarthenshire and look forward to welcoming customers through the door.”
Joe Morris, Operations Director, Home Bargains
