Working Smart

At Shufflebottom, we’re always delighted to hear of our customers’ success and growth and to be part of that growth ourselves physically on the ground. Even more satisfying, is when we’re called upon time and time again to deliver our steel-framed buildings for a satisfied customer. One such customer is Smart Systems headquartered at Yatton, Bristol.

Smart Systems has a history dating back over forty-five years. Formed in 1977 to supply high-quality windows and doors for the residential sector, today it has grown to be the UK’s leading supplier of aluminium systems for both residential and commercial markets extruding aluminium and manufacturing high performance systems.

By 2000, it had become a member of the Coriolis Group, with a prestigious portfolio extending to the markets of France, Poland and China as well as the UK. 2005, was a significant milestone for Smart Systems when they opened a brand-new purpose-built site at Yatton, Bristol.

Since then they’ve gone through six expansion phases and we’re pleased to say that Shufflebottom has been central to those phases. Since 2008, we’ve been designing, fabricating and erecting the steel-framed buildings and installing the cladding and mezzanine flooring for Smart Systems. We recently had to take stock of just what this amounts to: Smart Systems has a total of 60,000 sq. metres of buildings and of that total, Shufflebottom has delivered 46,500 sq. metres of buildings. Or if you’d like to work in acres, it’s 11.5, though if you want to know how much that is compared with a football field or a country the size of Wales, we’ll leave that to you.

Whatever your terms of reference, it’s evidence on the ground of Smart System’s belief in Shufflebottom, a company like Smart, that has a reputation for first class-products and consistent quality.

And the story is not over yet. This week we are delighted to have started erecting another building. We look forward to Smart’s continued growth and our continued and much valued relationship with Smart Systems in the future.
