Smart Systems in Yatton, Bristol is one of the UK’s leading suppliers of aluminium systems for both residential and commercial markets, extruding aluminium and manufacturing high performance systems. Shufflebottom have been working with the business since 2008 when it began its first expansion phase and we are delighted to be involved with the latest development.

Over the years Smart Systems has expanded its warehouses as well as expanding its engineering facilities and adding a new car park for its headquarters. Shufflebottom has designed, fabricated and erected the steel-framed buildings, and installed the cladding and mezzanine flooring for Smart Systems. In total Shufflebottom has delivered 46,500 sq. metres of buildings, equivalent of 11.5 acres on the ground in Yatton.

Previous phases of the expansion which were approved by North Somerset Council have added a number of jobs to the company. Smart Systems now has a 60,000 square metres integrated manufacturing facility and they continue to invest in the plant, their people and the premises.

Sustainability is also an important issue for the business as have they installed two wind turbines to reduce the amount of electricity used in the manufacturing process. To further secure more sustainable energy in the future, the company has agreed a long term lease with Centrica Business Solutions for the installation of solar panels on the roof of its UK headquarters. Work is underway on the construction of the 7,000 solar panel array, which will span the roofs of three buildings at Smart Systems’ 60,000 metre square manufacturing plant.

Smart Systems are also proud to be the only UK manufacturer with end-to end capability, which allows them to monitor, measure and control quality at every stage of the production process, from the design of a system and the specification of raw materials, through to dispatch.
