Daniel Lacey –  900 buildings and counting!

Since its inception in 1977, Shufflebottom has been growing its presence on the ground across all areas of the UK. Today it is known as one of the UK’s leading independent suppliers of steel-framed buildings for the agricultural, industrial and commercial sectors.

This is down to the quality of our product but also the expertise and dedication of all members of Team Shufflebottom. Most of the Team is based at our Headquarters in Cross Hands, Wales but we also have two wonderful sales people on the ground: in Scotland and in the East of England. This month we’re giving a big shout out to our man in the East of England, Daniel (Dan) Lacey.

Raised in Norfolk and now living in Norwich, Dan had a keen interest in agriculture from a young age. Dan went to agricultural college after leaving school and then worked on various farms across England, mainly mixed and livestock farms. Travelling around like this he had hands on experience of the goings on in the agricultural year, enjoying working with livestock and being involved in the demands of harvest and the lambing season.

It is this first-hand experience that has made Dan the well respected and trusted buildings’ specialist he is today. He knows his patch in the East of England – how it differs from other agricultural areas of the UK. He also knows the cycle of the farming year and the specific concerns of farmers, many of whom earn their livelihoods through cereals, grains and livestock production.

Shufflebottom is therefore very lucky to have a man of Dan’s calibre acting for them in the East of England. Dan has been working with us since 2005 and was originally based in the head office in Wales. In 2011 he moved back to Norfolk and has been working with us in a different capacity as a self-employed agent flying the flag for our wide-range of steel-framed buildings or sheds as they are known!

In this time Dan has sold over 900 buildings to satisfied customers within the agricultural and industrial sector, ranging in contract value from £5,000 to over £700,000. That’s a lot of buildings! Of the agricultural sales, the range of buildings is diverse and includes, but is not limited to:

  • American Stable Barns

  • Barns

  • Cattle Buildings

  • Dutch Barns

  • Dairy Buildings

  • Equestrian Buildings

  • Farm Buildings

  • Grain Stores

  • Livestock Buildings

  • Pig Units

  • Straw Stores

  • Sheep Sheds

When Dan is not working he’s an avid rugby fan and in his youth played for various local teams. He modestly says that it wasn’t to a very high standard and he hung his boots up a long time ago. These days his down time is spent doing DIY (he can put his hand to most things when required) and spending time with his family – he is married with two children aged eight and ten.

If you’re looking for a steel-framed building and you’re in the lovely East of England, Dan is your man and you can contact him here:
