Large-capacity steel-framed grain store in Kent
Shufflebottom has completed a new steel-framed grain store for St Nicholas Court Farms in Birchington, Kent, providing a practical, high-capacity building designed to support busy harvest periods.
This latest project follows on from earlier work at the site and reflects an ongoing working relationship with the farm, delivering a building that fits how the business operates day to day.
Project overview
The farm required a large agricultural grain store capable of handling a 9.25m level grain fill, allowing grain to be stored efficiently during harvest and moved easily when required.
The focus was on creating plenty of clear internal space, straightforward access and a layout that works for modern farming operations, while ensuring the building would stand up to long-term use.
Design and build
The grain store was designed, manufactured and erected by Shufflebottom, giving full control over quality and programme. Every part of the building was planned to suit bulk grain storage, with careful attention paid to loads, access and everyday practicality.
By working closely with the farm team and grain equipment suppliers, the final design was tailored to suit the site and the way the building would be used throughout the year.
Managing the build
A project of this size requires good planning and coordination. Early discussions with the client helped ensure the required grain fill level and operational needs were fully understood before work began.
Clear communication throughout the build helped keep the project running smoothly and allowed the structure to be completed as planned.
The finished building
The completed grain store provides St Nicholas Court Farms with a strong, reliable and high-capacity storage solution that supports efficient harvest operations and offers flexibility for the future.
It is one of the largest tonnage grain stores completed by Shufflebottom and demonstrates our experience in delivering agricultural buildings that are built to last and built for you.
