Ready for Harvest

Shufflebottom is delighted to have manufactured, delivered, and erected, its first agricultural building for G.W Wilson & Sons at Larkstone Farm in wonderful Warwickshire.

G.W. Wilson & Sons is a family-run farming business specialising in arable products, including cereals, located in Shipston-on-Stour from where it also offers agricultural services (muck, sludge, lime and concrete spreading) and functions as an operating centre for goods’ vehicles and trailers. G.W. Wilson & Sons has therefore considerable presence and respect in the area and are known as being ‘a farmers’ farmer’ and as ‘experts in the field.’ The farm also has a considerable presence and following on Facebook where there is some great story-telling about G.W. Wilson & Sons. www.facebook.com/gwwilsonandsons

We were therefore thrilled to be approached directly by telephone down to our successful track record in providing a range of specialised buildings for the agricultural sector, to be commissioned for a steel-framed building to be used as a grain-store for this new customer.

The project demanded a quick turn-around because of the need for it to be complete in readiness for the harvest season, it also had a specification which was considerably larger than the normal grain-store, and had to fit perfectly with other buildings that were already in place at Larkstone Farm!

Shufflebottom loves a challenge and providing solutions that make for a happy customer! The first load of concrete was tipped by 10th August and the building operational by the end of that month as per directive so that everything could be safely gathered in and housed in the new building.

The grain-store is 48.7m long x 30.5m wide x 11m to eaves (the standard is usually 3-4m), has 8 x 6.1m bays, and utilised 113 tonnes of steel-work, shot-blast to B.S. SA 2.5.  and painted in 75 microns Zinc Phosphate High Build Primer in colour 14C39 (green).  The roof is glad in Natural Grey P6R Fibre Cement with closed ridges and the sides are clad in Vertical Juniper Green 0.5mm Shufflebottom 1000/32 Plastic Coated Box profile with MetSEC side rails.

G.W. Wilson & Sons is delighted with the Shufflebottom’s prompt customer service and the efficiency of our sales’ team. We are justifiably proud that this is the first building of what we hope might be many and the beginning of a long-standing relationship with G.W. Wilson & Sons and a growing presence on the farms of Warwickshire.
