Celebrating 21 Years of Expertise: Rosemarie and Daniel’s Shufflebottom Story
The real strength behind every Shufflebottom agricultural building or steel framed structure is our people. This year we celebrate an exceptional milestone as two much valued team members, Rosemarie and Daniel, reach their 21st work anniversary with the business.
Their contribution over the last two decades has shaped thousands of projects and supported farmers, landowners and commercial clients across the UK. Their stories reflect everything that defines Shufflebottom. Built by experts. Built for you. Built to last.
Where it all began
Rosemarie joined the Shufflebottom team in December 2004. Daniel followed shortly after in January 2005. Both stepped into the fast-paced world of sales and quickly became trusted points of contact for customers.
Rosemarie remembers arriving before her first day to help out, only for a structural engineer to jokingly wonder how long she would last. More than 21 years on she has more than answered that question.
Daniel recalls the steep learning curve of those early months, especially the sense of pride that came with completing his first orders and supporting customers through the process.
From the very beginning both were driven by a desire to help customers make the right decisions for their farms and businesses, and that ethos has stayed with them ever since.
What they love most about the job
For Daniel the appeal lies in the variety. No two projects are the same and he thrives on the challenge. Seeing a customer pleased with the final result is still one of the most rewarding parts of his role.
For Rosemarie it is the people. She enjoys the conversations, the face-to-face meetings and the ongoing learning that comes from working in a business with so many highly experienced colleagues. The depth of knowledge within the team is something she values and something customers depend on.
They also share the belief that relationships matter. Many customers return to Shufflebottom repeatedly, because they know they will receive honest advice and a building tailored to their needs.
Projects that still stand out
With more than two decades of projects behind them, certain builds remain especially memorable.
For Rosemarie, the Copenhagen Candles project stands out. A striking matt black building that was technically challenging but visually impressive. She also remembers Tough Treads, a major Welsh project that demonstrated the scale and capability of the Shufflebottom team.
Daniel’s most memorable build is a 1,000 tonne grain store complete with stair towers, walkways and a complex specification. The project allowed him to expand his technical understanding and remains one he is particularly proud of.
These builds showcase the power of bespoke design and clever construction that Shufflebottom is known for.
How farming and building needs have changed
Both have seen significant shifts in agricultural requirements over the years. Farms are getting larger, with more demand for bigger, multipurpose buildings. Sustainability has become increasingly important, with a noticeable rise in enquiries about solar integration and designing frames that can accommodate renewables.
They also note that planning has evolved, especially since Covid and the post Grenfell regulatory changes. Lead times and price remain constant priorities for customers, no matter how much the industry progresses.
Looking ahead 20 years
When imagining the future, both see technology playing an even bigger role. Better integration, smarter systems and more sophisticated solutions to support welfare, efficiency and sustainability. They anticipate continued growth in accreditation and best practice, and both believe Shufflebottom is well placed to guide customers through these advancements thanks to its experienced team and commitment to innovation.
A celebration of commitment and expertise
Rosemarie and Daniel represent the best of Shufflebottom. Their knowledge, care and dedication have helped shape the business and strengthened our relationships with customers nationwide. They have been part of the evolution of agricultural buildings, from traditional sheds to forward thinking, future ready steel framed solutions.
Their service is a reminder of what makes Shufflebottom unique. Buildings built to last. Built by experts. Built for you.
Here’s to their 21st anniversary and to many more years of shared success.
