Strong Collaboration Achieves A* Centre for 3A's Leisure

Shufflebottom has completed an impressive 2,600 square metre building for main contractor Malpross Services on a former part of the United Counties Showground off the A40 road at Nantyci, west of Carmarthen.  The development creates a new sales and service centre for 3A's Leisure.

3 A's Leisure, established in 1990 and with current operations on the Cross Hands Business Park near Llanelli and at Pensarn, Carmarthen, sells new and used motor homes and caravans for all budgets. Now the firm has expanded to a purpose-designed centre at Nantyci, with eco features including solar panels, a bio-digester foul water system, and water attenuation systems.

Malpross Services, based in Cross Hands, developed the site from foundations to landscaping, "and did an amazing job", reported Shufflebottom director Alex Shufflebottom.

The architects, Sauro Architectural Design, are locally based in Carmarthen, and Castle Scaffolding of St Clears is another Carmarthenshire firm participating in the prestige project.

Shufflebottom's design department worked closely with Sauro from the inception of the venture, which was completed on time and to budget. The steel-framed building, featuring Kingspan insulated panels, has large glazing screens and rooflights to maximise natural daylight.

The building, which includes cold rolled steel from Metsec and gutters from RJ Barrington, has areas for reception, maintenance, office work, and for displaying the motor homes and caravans to potential customers.

"There were many challenges on this project but with great enthusiasm and commitment from the whole team, problems were solved effectively," said Malpross director Kerry Prosser.
